Drs. Chrissy Eckstrand and Christine Haake, Pathologists at Washington Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory, report on a 3-week-old, intact male lamb presented in fair postmortem condition.

Sheep dermatophytosis (wool rot, lumpy wool, sheep ringworm) is commonly referred to as club lamb fungus. There has been an increase in prevalence over recent years due to the popularity of sheep exhibitions without a concurrent expansion of biosecurity protocols.

Recently a case presented to WADDL that served as a reminder of the challenges related to managing Johne’s disease within goat herds.
