The Washington Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (WADDL) is excited to announce a new service designed to streamline parasite identification for producers and veterinarians: Digital Parasite Identification. This diagnostic option allows clients to submit images of parasites online, eliminating the need to ship physical samples, and provides same-day results for established clients. The test can assist with the identification of parasite eggs, oocysts, and cysts visible in images of fecal flotation preparations, as well as whole gastrointestinal worms or external parasites such as mites, lice, and other arthropods based on photos submitted directly by clients. Submitted images are reviewed by a trained laboratory technician, and each case is accompanied by an official WADDL diagnostic report. The service is not only fast and convenient but also cost-effective, priced at $20 per case.

Digital images can be submitted easily through a cell phone or computer using the Digital Parasitology Submission Form, with step-by-step instructions. This service reflects WADDL’s commitment to supporting timely, informed clinical decision-making with accessible and reliable diagnostic tools.
