Dr. Dale MooreDr. Dale Moore - Director, Veterinary Medicine Extension

Dr. Moore's extension program is devoted to agricultural animal health and well-being. Her two focus areas include:

1) Calf management for health and performance

2) Disease prevention on farms and ranches

She serves as one of the Washington state's Beef Quality Assurance coordinators, education specialist to the USDA “Calf Science” project, and the developer of the DairyBeef website.

Current research activities include alternatives to antibiotic use in calf-rearing and validating biosecurity recommendations on dairy farms.

 

 

 

Dr. Bill SischoDr. Bill Sischo - Faculty, School for Global Animal Health

A professor in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, Dr. Sischo's research focuses on:

1) Quality management for dairy farms (including risk assessment)

2) Local and regional ecology of pathogens of public health significance with a primary focus on Salmonella and Escherichia coli

3) Issues of rural and urban geographic interface

A nationally recognized expert in food safety, Dr. Sischo will direct the School for Global Animal Health’s new doctoral program in animal health policy and metrics. The first program of its kind in the nation, it aims to educate the next generation of leaders in animal health to develop and implement effective science-based policy. 

 


Dr. John WenzDr. John Wenz - Faculty, Field Disease Investigation Unit

Dr. Wenz is with the Field Disease Investigation Unit and the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences. He is responsible for:

1) Responding to requests for herd-level disease investigations in the state for ag animals

2) Teaching problem-solving and farm records interpretation to the veterinary students

Dr. Wenz is also involved in extension and outreach through his on-farm projects and the BVD Control & Eradication Project currently in progress in the state of Washington.

 

 

 

 

Brandon FreitasMr. Brandon Freitas, MS Extension Coordinator

Brandon has a graduate degree in Health Science and has a solid background in general health and health issues. He primarily focuses on:

1) Oversees the daily operations of the unit

2) Program and project management

3) Webmaster

4) Database management

 

 

 

 

Katy TellessenMiss. Katy Tellessen, BS Extension Coordinator, Field Research

Katy has a degree in Animal Science and is currently responsible for:

1) Calf Science program organization

2) Field research with the Field Disease Investigation Unit

 

 

 

 

Jill StevensonMrs. Jill Stevenson, MS Extension Coordinator, Field Research

Jill has a graduate degree in Animal Science and is currently responsible for:

1) 4-H Leader Development Program within the unit

2) Field research with the Field Disease Investigation Unit
